Expression of coffee florigen CaFT1 reveals a sustained floral induction window associated with asynchronous flowering in tropical perennials

Summary: The behavior of florigen(s) and environment-influenced regulatory pathways in controlling floral initiation in tropical perennial species is not well understood. In this study, Coffea sp. L. was used as a model to explore this issue. The researchers identified several genes related to floral regulation in coffee and discovered the mechanism of the florigen CaFT1. They also found that temperature changes are not the key factor in regulating floral induction in coffee. These findings provide new insights into the mechanisms of floral activation in tropical perennial species.
