The Role of Tumor Necrosis Factor Associated Factors (TRAFs) in Vascular Inflammation and Atherosclerosis

Mark Colin Gissler et al.

Summary: TNF receptor associated factors (TRAFs) are a family of cytoplasmic signaling adaptor proteins that regulate inflammatory signals downstream of various receptors. TRAFs play a crucial role in cell survival and immune cell function, and are important regulators of inflammation. Inhibition of specific TRAFs may be beneficial or harmful depending on the condition. TRAFs have been suggested as potential modulators of inflammation in atherosclerosis and vascular inflammation.

Endothelial Dysfunction in Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases and Beyond: From Mechanism to Pharmacotherapies

Suowen Xu et al.

Summary: The endothelium, a cellular monolayer lining the blood vessel wall, plays a critical role in maintaining multiorgan health and homeostasis. Dysfunction of the vascular endothelium is associated with various diseases and is implicated in severe coronavirus disease 2019. Therapeutic approaches targeting endothelial dysfunction may have potential for treatment of cardiovascular and many other diseases.

Primary African American Endothelial Cells Exhibit Endothelial Dysfunction with an Exacerbated Inflammatory Profile and Blunted MMP-2 Activity

Marc D. Cook et al.

Summary: Endothelial dysfunction is associated with racial health disparity in vascular dysfunction in African Americans. MMP-2 expression in endothelial cells has been linked to hypertension, with AA HUVEC showing higher basal MMP-2 expression but lower secreted MMP-2 activity compared to CA HUVEC. Inflammatory stimuli worsened relative MMP-2 activity in AA HUVEC.

Aerobic Training Modulates the Increase in Plasma Concentrations of Cytokines in response to a Session of Exercise

Tatiana Ramos Fonseca et al.

Summary: The study found that aerobic training can enhance the training effect of acute immune responses to exercise until fatigue. In terms of cytokine levels, after training IL-6, sTNFR1, BDNF, and leptin increased to a lesser extent after acute exercise, but responses to the same relative exercise intensity were similar to those observed before exercise.
