Genome-wide identification of WOX family members in nine Rosaceae species and a functional analysis of MdWOX13-1 in drought resistance

Jiahong Lv et al.

Summary: In this study, a genome-wide comprehensive analysis of WOX genes in nine Rosaceae species was conducted, and their potential roles in Malus were investigated. The results revealed significant collinearity in Prunus. domestica among the Rosaceae species. The study also categorized the cis-elements in the WOX gene family into three categories and found that overexpression of MdWOX13-1 increased callus weight and enhanced ROS scavenging against drought stress by directly binding to the MdMnSOD promoter.

The genome-wide characterization of WOX gene family in Phaseolus vulgaris L. during salt stress

Simay Ezgi Akbulut et al.

Summary: This study identified and characterized 18 WOX proteins in the Phaseolus vulgaris genome for the first time. The properties of these proteins were investigated and they were found to be categorized into three major phylogenetic groups. Segmental duplication events and miRNA targeting were also discovered. Additionally, physiological analyses were conducted under salt stress and the expression levels of certain genes were screened.

Genome-wide identification and characterization of WOX genes in Cucumis sativus

Ni Han et al.

Summary: In this study, a total of 11 WOX transcription factor family members were identified in the cucumber genome and classified into three clades with nine subclades based on phylogenetic analysis results. All WOX members in cucumber contain the typical homeodomain structure, and gene duplication event analysis revealed possible segment duplication affecting the number of WOX members. Expression profiles of CsWOX genes in different tissues show that some members are constitutively expressed at higher levels compared to others, with cis-element analysis suggesting involvement in phytohormone pathways and stress responses, supported by RNA-seq data.

What Does the WOX Say? Review of Regulators, Targets, Partners

V. E. Tvorogova et al.

Summary: WOX (WUSCHEL-RELATED HOMEOBOX) is a family of homeodomain-containing transcription factors in plants that play a crucial role in maintaining meristem activity and organ formation. Understanding the functions of WOX proteins is essential for the advancement of plant transformation and genome editing techniques. The WOX family can be categorized into three phylogenetically distinct clades, each covered in detail with comprehensive descriptions of targets, regulators, and partners.

In silico identification, characterization expression profile of WUSCHEL-Related Homeobox (WOX) gene family in two species of kiwifruit

Chen Feng et al.

Summary: This study identified and classified the kiwifruit WOX gene family, revealing differences in WOX gene number and distribution between the Ac and Ae genomes, indicating different evolutionary patterns. Conserved motifs were highly diverged in kiwifruit WOX genes, with functional differentiation identified and potential stress-responsive WOXs determined. The results provided insights into general characteristics, evolutionary patterns, and functional diversity of kiwifruit WOXs.
