Planar ultrasonic transducer based on a metasurface piezoelectric ring array for subwavelength acoustic focusing in water

SH waves in a stressed piezoelectric semiconductor plates: Electron and hole drift phenomenon

Summary: This research aims to investigate the significant impact of residual stresses on the drift of electrons and holes. A numerical matrix solution is presented to predict the dispersion curves of shear horizontal modes in stressed piezotronics materials. The study finds that the drift phenomenon disrupts the ideal vibration of acoustic waves and proposes a simplified version of the ordinary differential equation method for efficient computation. The comparison of dispersion curves between pre-stressed piezoelectric and piezotronics plates reveals the effects of semiconductive properties. The article also highlights the challenges and discusses the influence of biaxial stresses on the acoustoelastic effect. Overall, this study provides insights into stressed semiconductor structures, with potential applications in small-sized smart devices.

A New Focused EMAT Design With Narrow Magnet to Achieve Both A0-Lamb Signal Enhancement and Waveform Distortion Correction

Summary: This paper proposes a new design of narrow magnet focused electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT), which enhances the ultrasonic signals and corrects the waveform distortion. An uneven split-wires arrangement strategy is employed to correct the distorted waveform. The experimental results show that this EMAT design effectively corrects signal distortion and increases the amplitude of the A0-Lamb wave.

Development of an Omnidirectional SH0 Mode Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducer Employing a Circumferential Periodic Permanent Magnet Array

Summary: This work introduces a new omnidirectional electromagnetic acoustic transducer for generating and receiving shear-horizontal guided waves in an aluminum plate. By optimizing the magnet sizes and adding acrylic spacers, the transducer can achieve an omnidirectional sound field. The effectiveness of the optimization method was verified through simulations and experiments, showing that the proposed EMAT can generate omnidirectional SH0 mode guided waves in an aluminum plate.

Broadband monopole emission enhancement using a dual acoustic grating

Summary: Enhanced broadband emission of monopole source is achieved by a dual acoustic grating with anisotropic mass density, leading to a sound pressure level gain above 11dB. The coupling of the first and second resonance modes enables the realization of enhanced broadband monopole emission. Parameter optimization can further enhance the broadband monopole emission with minimal fluctuation in sound pressure level gain.

Design of a new type of omnidirectional shear-horizontal EMAT by the use of half-ring magnets and PCB technology

Summary: An electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) for generating and receiving omnidirectional shear-horizontal (OSH) wave in aluminum plate is developed in this study. The proposed OSH-EMAT utilizes static magnetic field and radial alternative eddy current to excite Lorentz force for SH wave generation. Experimental results demonstrate good consistency in performance and the design shows potential for various non-destructive testing applications due to its low cost and convenience.
