Dynamic similitude technique for predicting the behaviour of structures subjected to impact loads

Tao Wang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the importance of using dynamic similitude method to predict the behavior of structures under impact loads, considering the effects of material strain-rate sensitivity and geometrical distortion.

A Finite Similitude Approach to Scaled Impact Mechanics

Keith Davey et al.

Summary: The finite similitude theory is a new scaling method that aims to capture scale effects by conducting two scaled experiments at different scales, providing a more realistic approach to scaled experimentation. By combining information from two experiments, the theory can predict outcomes that may be superior to experiments at a single scale.

Material similarity of scaled models

Shuai Wang et al.

Summary: This study has developed a more complete framework of material similarity, proposing material dimensionless numbers based on the similarity analysis of thermo-visco-plastic constitutive equation to represent the similarity of strain hardening, strain-rate sensitive and temperature softening effects. It overcomes the previous inherent defects by proving the direct and exact solution of basic correction factors when the material numbers of the scaled model and prototype are equal, and proposes phase diagrams to design optimum similitude materials.
