Optimization of fresh and hardened properties of structural light weight self-compacting concrete mix design using response surface methodology

Kianoush Siamardi

Summary: In this study, response surface methodology was used to model and predict the properties of powder type light weight self-compacting concrete with coarse grained light expanded clay aggregates as partial replacement of normal weight aggregates. By analyzing the influence of mix design parameters on the responses, optimal parameters for vertical applications in structures with complex shapes and congested reinforcements were obtained and verified with high statistical desirability.

Effect of concrete unit weight on the mechanical properties of bottom ash aggregate concrete

Yong-Hyok Kim et al.

Summary: The depletion of natural aggregates is a pressing issue in many regions, with bottom ash identified as a potential replacement material for concrete. The study focused on evaluating the mechanical properties of concrete with different ratios of bottom ash aggregate, providing valuable data for future structural design models.

Residual compressive stress-strain relationship of lightweight aggregate concrete after exposure to elevated temperatures

Farshad Dabbaghi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the compressive behavior of lightweight concrete after exposure to elevated temperatures. The results showed that the compressive strength and elastic modulus of lightweight aggregate concrete declined with increasing temperature, with samples containing 75% Leca demonstrating higher residual compressive strength at 750 degrees C.
