Novel one-dimensional V3S4@NC nanofibers for sodium-ion batteries

Zan Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, a facile electrospinning method was used to fabricate novel one-dimensional V3S4@NC nanofibers as anodes for sodium-ion batteries. The composite consists of monoclinic-structured V3S4 nano-crystals uniformly embedded in one-dimensional carbon fibers with high electrical conductivity. Electrochemical tests showed that the V3S4@NC anode exhibited excellent rate capability and cyclic life due to its superior electron transfer conductivity. It demonstrated high reversible capacities of 455, 343, 307, and 249 mAh g-1 at 0.1, 1, 2, and 5 A g-1, respectively, and retained 96.5% capacity at 10 A g-1 after 300 cycles. This promising strategy provides a new direction for high-performance V3S4 anodes in sodium-ion storage.

High Proportion of Active Nitrogen-Doped Hard Carbon Based on Mannich Reaction as Anode Material for High-Performance Sodium-Ion Batteries

Gang Huang et al.

Summary: A high ratio of active nitrogen-doped hard carbon (PTA-Lys-800) was synthesized by the classical Mannich reaction and showed outstanding cycling stability and rate performance in sodium-ion batteries. This was attributed to its stable hierarchical pore structure, abundant defects, and a high proportion of N-5 formed during the carbonization process. The study presents a new method for designing carbonaceous anode materials with high capacity and long cycle life.

Effect of Graphene vs. Reduced Graphene Oxide in Gold Nanoparticles for Optical Biosensors-A Comparative Study

Ana P. G. Carvalho et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop a nanoparticle-based optical biosensor by using green-synthesized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) supported by carbon-based nanomaterials. The research found that carbon derivatives play a role in promoting the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of AuNPs and improving their dispersion and stability. Among the carbon-based materials, the addition of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) resulted in the best dispersion of AuNPs. Among the three composites studied, AuNPs/rGO showed the most promising potential for LSPR biosensors.
