Elucidation of the interaction effect between dietary fiber and bound polyphenol components on the anti-hyperglycemic activity of tea residue dietary fiber

Hairong Huang et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the interaction effect between dietary fiber components and bound polyphenol components in tea residues (TRDF) on the anti-hyperglycemic activity. The results showed that bound polyphenol components are essential for the anti-hyperglycemic activity of TRDF, and they also modulate gut microbiota and increase the content of short chain fatty acids.

Recent update on application of dihydromyricetin in metabolic related diseases

Yirong Wang et al.

Summary: Dihydromyricetin (DMY), a new type of natural flavonoid, has gained increasing attention due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, antibacterial properties, and excellent safety. It can be added to daily food, beverages, and medicines despite its poor bioavailability. Recent studies have shown that DMY can treat diseases by its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cell death-promoting, and lipid and glucose metabolism-regulating effects. The mechanism of DMY's action on these diseases is also related to AMPK, PI3K/Akt, PPAR pathways and microRNAs. This review focuses on the mechanism of DMY in metabolic diseases, liver diseases, and cancers, aiming to provide new ideas for clinical research.

Preparation and characterization of a dihydromyricetin-sugar beet pectin covalent polymer

Xiaoling Liu et al.

Summary: A covalent polymer of DMY-SBP was prepared for the first time and characterized in terms of its structure and physicochemical properties. The results showed positive correlations between the polymer's properties, including molecular weight, total phenol content, and ABTS radical scavenging ability, and the dosage of DMY. The polymer exhibited higher inhibitory activity and stability compared to DMY alone, due to its strong protein binding capacity, and also showed superior protective effects on beta-carotene in nano-emulsions stabilized with the DMY-SBP polymers. These findings contribute to our understanding of natural polyphenol-polysaccharide polymers and have implications for the development of new nutraceuticals.

Polysaccharides improved the viscoelasticity, microstructure, and physical stability of ovalbumin-ferulic acid complex stabilized emulsion

Zhenzhen Huang et al.

Summary: This study explored the mechanism of interactions between polysaccharides and ovalbumin-ferulic acid (OVA-FA) and the effect of polysaccharides on the stability of OVA-FA-stabilized emulsions. The results showed that the non-covalent interactions between polysaccharides and OVA-FA led to changes in the protein structure and improved the stability of the emulsions.
