Effect of aging plus cryogenic treatment on the machinability of 7075 aluminum alloy

Ping Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of aging plus cryogenic treatment on the machinability of 7075 aluminum alloy in high speed cutting. The results show that cryogenic treatment reduces the cutting force and leads to smaller grain size and more precipitates in the aluminum matrix. After cryogenic treatment, the alloy precipitates are denser and discontinuous, and the stacking fault on the machined surface is greatly improved.

Effect of heat treatment process on the micro machinability of 7075 aluminum alloy

Ping Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of heat treatment process on the micro machinability of 7075 aluminum alloy. Different heat treatment processes are found to have varying effects on the cutting force, surface roughness, surface quality, and residual stress of the alloy. Changes in cutting parameters also influence the machining performance of the alloy differently under different heat treatment processes.

Three-dimensional finite element analysis for temperature filed of composite materials during the cure

Zhangxin Guo et al.

Summary: The finite element method is used to simulate the curing of composite structures with arbitrary geometry. The simulated results match experimental results well, indicating the reliability of the finite element analysis models. Compared to one- and two-dimensional finite element analysis, this study allows for the calculation of temperature and degree of cure at any point within composite structures.

Water jet impact damage mechanism and dynamic penetration energy absorption of 2A12 aluminum alloy

Ping Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of waterjet cavitation on the dynamic penetration energy absorption of 2A12 aluminum alloy. Experimental and simulation results show that waterjet cavitation can enhance the residual compressive stress and improve the surface quality of the target. The combination of small jet angle with large jet pressure or large jet angle with medium jet pressure delivers the best strengthening effect.

Quench Sensitivity of 7475 Aluminum Alloy Using End-Quenching Technique and TTP Diagrams

Lianghua Lin et al.

Summary: The sensitivity of 7475 aluminum alloy to cooling rate was investigated, revealing a critical temperature range of 300-350 degrees Celsius and a wide precipitate-free zone at cooling rates lower than 12.5 degrees Celsius per second. At lower cooling rates, eta phases form, suppressing the formation of strengthening precipitates.

Surface integrity and tool wear mechanism of 7050-T7451 aluminum alloy under dry cutting

Zhang Ping et al.

Summary: The cutting parameters significantly affect the surface roughness, work hardening, and residual stress of AA7050-T7451 aluminum alloy. Higher cutting speeds and lower feed rates can improve surface roughness, while cutting depth has little effect on surface roughness. Residual stress is closely related to changing cutting parameters.

Analysis on the tool wear behavior of 7050-T7451 aluminum alloy under ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting

Ping Zhang et al.

Summary: The machinability and tool wear behavior of 7050-T7451 aluminum alloy were compared under different cutting parameters and vibration frequencies in conventional cutting (CC) and ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting (UEVC) processes. Results showed that UEVC required about three fifths the cutting force of CC under the same parameters, with higher cutting surface quality. The cutting surface of UEVC exhibited precipitate-free zones, while tool wear in CC was typically tipping, spalling, adhesive, or oxidative wear, while in UEVC it mainly consisted of impact-induced mechanical wear such as abrasive, mild oxidative, and mild adhesive wear.
