Analysis of the effect of part geometry and cutting parameters over tool vibration and surface integrity on hard turning

Felipe Bertolotti Savella et al.

Summary: This research investigates the influence of part geometry and machining conditions on tool vibration and surface integrity in H13 hard turning. The results indicate that tool vibration is mainly affected by the feed rate, while surface integrity is mainly influenced by the part geometry. This study provides valuable guidance for process planning involving the machining of hardened steels.

Smart retrofitting in manufacturing: A systematic review

David Jaspert et al.

Summary: The transition to smart manufacturing poses challenges for companies with legacy equipment, and smart retrofitting is introduced as a sustainable approach to transform these assets into smart and connected ones. However, there is still a lack of uniform definition of smart retrofitting and understanding of its drivers, challenges, and benefits. More attention needs to be paid to transformational aspects, business models, servitization, and sustainability in smart retrofitting initiatives.
