Neuroprotective effect of anethole against rotenone induced non-motor deficits and oxidative stress in rat model of Parkinson?s disease

Sadegh Moradi Vastegani et al.

Summary: In this study, the neuroprotective effects of anethole on rotenone-induced non-motor symptoms were investigated. The results showed that anethole improved cognitive function and pain threshold, reduced oxidative stress levels, and increased the number of surviving neurons in the hippocampus. However, anethole did not increase the expression of BDNF.

N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-4 protects against hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury by blocking apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 N-terminal dimerization

Jiangqiao Zhou et al.

Summary: GALNT4 has been identified as a potential therapeutic target for liver I/R injury by inhibiting the ASK1-JNK/p38 signaling pathway, independent of its glycosyltransferase activity. This study highlights the importance of GALNT4 in protecting against hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury and improving surgical outcomes for liver transplantation.

Trans-anethole ameliorates lipopolysaccharide-induced acute liver inflammation in broilers via inhibiting NF-kB signaling pathway

Yichun Tong et al.

Summary: This study investigated the protective effect of trans-anethole (TA) on lipopolysaccharide-induced acute liver inflammation in chickens. The results showed that TA attenuated the increase in inflammatory mediators and improved the levels of anti-inflammatory mediators. Additionally, TA downregulated the expression of inflammation-related genes and proteins in the NF-kB signaling pathway. Overall, TA was found to alleviate acute liver inflammation by blocking NF-kB activation.

Antibiotic pretreatment attenuates liver ischemia-reperfusion injury by Farnesoid X receptor activation

Hanyi Liu et al.

Summary: Our study demonstrates that prophylactic antibiotic pretreatment can attenuate liver ischemia-reperfusion injury by reshaping the gut microbiota and altering bile acid composition. This beneficial effect is mediated through the activation of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR) pathway, which suppresses inflammatory responses and cell apoptosis in the liver. These findings suggest that targeting FXR activation may be a potential therapeutic strategy for liver injury.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between the severity of IRI and short-term graft outcomes, demonstrating that severe IRI was associated with higher incidence of EAD and inferior survival. Independent risk factors for moderate to severe IRI and EAD were identified, providing valuable insights for optimizing donor-recipient matching and patient management in liver transplantation.

NLRP3 inflammasome activation and cell death

Yi Huang et al.

Summary: The NLRP3 inflammasome is a cytosolic multiprotein complex that responds to microbial infection, endogenous danger signals, and environmental stimuli. Its activation can induce pyroptosis and release of inflammatory cytokines, contributing to innate immune defense. However, aberrant activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome is associated with inflammatory diseases, and there is a close relationship between cell death pathways and NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Camille Contant et al.

Summary: Anethole demonstrated selective and dose-dependent inhibition of oral cancer cell proliferation, inducing toxicity and apoptosis through various signaling pathways. It also showed the ability to induce autophagy, decrease reactive oxygen species production, and increase intracellular glutathione activity.
