A clinical approach strategy for the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of external cervical resorption

Athina-Maria Mavridou et al.

Summary: A clinical approach strategy on the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of external cervical tooth resorption (ECR) cases was proposed. The strategy includes three steps: diagnosis, treatment planning, and evaluation. The study found that the overall survival rate of this strategy is 70.3% with a mean of 5 years. The success of treatment decisions should be based on long-term outcomes.

Hypoxia-inducible factor 1α induces osteo/odontoblast differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells via Wnt/β-catenin transcriptional cofactor BCL9

Shion Orikasa et al.

Summary: This study revealed that BCL9 plays a crucial role in the osteo/odontoblastic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) under hypoxic conditions. This differentiation process is partially dependent on the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, with BCL9 acting as a key mediator between HIF1 alpha and Wnt/β-catenin signaling.

Tooth resorption-Part 2: A clinical classification

Paul Abbott et al.

Summary: Tooth resorption is a process resulting in loss of dentin and/or cementum, currently lacking a universal classification. A useful classification should include both physiological and pathological conditions and be clinically applicable, meaningful, useful, clear, and universal for easy storage, retrieval, and analysis of health information.

Regenerative endodontic therapy for external inflammatory lateral resorption following traumatic dental injuries: Evidence assessment of best practices

Shaul Lin et al.

Summary: This study reviewed the literature evidence on regenerative endodontic therapy (RET) for external inflammatory lateral resorption (EILR) following traumatic injuries and concluded that RET is a good treatment modality for improving prognosis in cases of EILR. Triple antibiotic paste and double antibiotic paste were commonly used in the treatment.

Bone remodeling: an operational process ensuring survival and bone mechanical competence

Simona Bolamperti et al.

Summary: Bone remodeling is a continuous cellular process that replaces old and damaged bone with new bone on the same surface. Recent research has shown that all bone cells participate in bone remodeling by interacting with their progenitors, other cells, and bone matrix constituents at different differentiation stages.

Summary: Cardiovascular diseases, including thrombosis, are major contributors to non-communicable diseases and mortality. The introduction of direct oral anticoagulants has led to changes in periprocedural and perioperative anticoagulation management, particularly in dentistry. This review focuses on the mechanisms of action of classic and novel antithrombotic medications and their impact on endodontic treatment and local haemostasis management.

Periodontal Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration: A Narrative Review

Young-Dan Cho et al.

Summary: Periodontal disease is a significant public health issue, with most periodontal surgeries being invasive procedures involving resection of gingiva or alveolar bone. The periodontal wound healing process is similar to fetal healing, almost scar-free. Successful periodontal tissue regeneration requires addressing detrimental factors and adopting future strategies.

Summary: A comprehensive literature search on orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption (OIIRR) found that using fixed appliances contributes to increased incidence and severity of OIIRR. It is recommended to avoid excessive forces and apical displacement, and precautionary measures should be considered for patients at high risk of OIIRR.
