Experiment and simulation study on cavitation flow in pressure relief valve at different hydraulic oil temperatures

Jie He et al.

Summary: Hydraulic oil, as the blood of hydraulic system, has a significant impact on the operation of pressure relief valve due to its high temperature. Through experimental and numerical analysis, it is found that higher oil temperature leads to decreased oil viscosity, increased flow rate, and decreased pressure at the orifice. Furthermore, high oil temperature promotes the occurrence and development of cavitation in the relief valve. The study also evaluates the flow resistance and energy dissipation under different oil temperatures, indicating the importance of maintaining an appropriate hydraulic oil temperature to extend the service life of the hydraulic system.

Fluid dynamics analysis and optimized throttling design of L-shaped multi-stage high pressure reducing valve

Fu-qiang Chen et al.

Summary: Traditional high-pressure pressure reducing valves are usually linear and take up a lot of space and cost a lot. This study introduces a newly designed L-shaped multi-stage high pressure reducing valve (L-HPRV) that can be widely used in limited space pipelines, reducing floor space and lowering costs. The steam flow in L-HPRV is analyzed using an experimental validated numerical method and a parametric sensitivity study is conducted to investigate the effects of typical throttling components on the fluid dynamics of L-HPRV. The optimal throttling design of L-HPRV is achieved based on the results of the parametric sensitivity study.

Study on flow-induced noise characteristics of multistage depressurization valve in the nuclear power plant

Haozhe Jin et al.

Summary: In this study, the flow-induced noise generated by the second-loop main feedwater regulating valve in a nuclear power plant is analyzed. Based on numerical investigations and the acoustic analog equation, the influence of different noise sources on the generation and propagation of valve core noise is investigated. The results provide valuable information for studying valve noise and designing effective noise reduction strategies.

Enhancing ammonia combustion with minimum hydrogen blended in presence of self-excited intermittent pulsating oscillations

Yiheng Guan et al.

Summary: In this study, a partial premixed fuel injection design of NH3-H2-O2 with double ring-shaped inlets was proposed and tested to enhance ammonia combustion in an open-ended combustor. The minimum amount of hydrogen blended with ammonia in the presence of pulsating combustion oscillations was determined. Three key thermodynamic parameters, including total fuel mass flow rate, mass fraction of hydrogen, and temperature of a downstream heat exchanger, were investigated and found to strongly affect the performance. The study opens up an approach to enhance ammonia combustion by improving its flammability limit with minimal hydrogen blending.

Simulation and analysis of fire and pressure reducing valve damage in on-board liquid hydrogen system of heavy-duty fuel cell trucks

Ying Tian et al.

Summary: A new liquid hydrogen system model for heavy-duty trucks is established in this study, and it is verified according to previous test data. The simulation and analysis under fire and pressure reducing valve damage are conducted. The results show that high temperature leads to overpressure and overtemperature inside the liquid hydrogen tank and the air temperature vaporizer, reducing the system's safety. Damage to the pressure reducing valve can imbalance hydrogen supply temperature and pressure, affecting the stack's performance and reducing system stability. An optimized design scheme is proposed to improve the stability and safety of the liquid hydrogen system.

Measurement of the relative permittivity of the liquid phase of R454C with vapor quality change under two-phase condition

Moojong Kim et al.

Summary: The capacitance-based method is an alternative method for measuring the void fraction of refrigerants. Accurately predicting the relative permittivity of liquid zeotropic refrigerants during phase change is necessary. In this study, the relative permittivity of a two-phase refrigerant was measured using the parallel plate method, and Landau and Lifshitz's mixing rule best predicts the relative permittivity for R454C refrigerant.

Gaoyang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the behavior of liquid-vapor two-phase flow in centrifugal pumps under different conditions and impeller structural parameters was investigated using numerical and experimental methods. A cavitation multiphase unsteady model was proposed to simulate the flow field in the centrifugal pump, and an experimental platform was used to validate the simulation data. The study provides insights into structural optimization design of centrifugal pumps with good cavitation resistance.

EVAPORATION CHARACTERISTICS AND EFFICIENT WORKING AREA OF MULTI-STAGE HIGH PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE REDUCING VALVE

Li-Hua Cao et al.

Summary: A comprehensive understanding of the evaporation characteristics and efficient working area of multi-stage high pressure and temperature reducing valves (MSHPTRV) is crucial for enhancing their performance and safety. In this study, a water spraying and evaporation model was integrated into the flow model of MSHPTRV, which effectively demonstrated the thermal process and flow characteristics. The increase rate of entropy (S-dis) was adopted to analyze thermodynamic loss and determine the efficient working area of MSHPTRV, leading to significant findings regarding the pressure reducing effect and the formation of steam-water layer.
