Effect of sulphide concentration on corrosion behaviors of HVOF-sprayed WC-Cr3C2-Ni and WC-Ni coatings

Ziyu Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, WC-Cr3C2-Ni and WC-Ni coatings were applied to steel surfaces using HVOF spray. The corrosion behaviors of these coatings in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution with varying Na2S concentrations were investigated. Electrochemical tests were conducted to measure the corrosion resistances of the coatings, while SEM and XPS analysis were used to study their morphologies and corrosion products. It was found that the passivation of the coatings played a key role in their corrosion resistances, with sulphide concentration negatively affecting the integrity of passive films. The WC-Cr3C2-Ni coating exhibited better corrosion resistance due to its stable structure and higher tendency for repassivation.

Microstructure and properties of Cu-TiNi composites prepared by vacuum hot pressing

Xi Zhang et al.

Summary: Cu-TiNi composites with different TiNi volume percentages were prepared, and their microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties were analyzed. The results showed that diffusion of elements occurred at the interface and formed a diffusion layer. TiNi particles were uniformly distributed in the Cu matrix and had a well-bonded interface. The hardness and yield strength increased with the increase of TiNi volume percentage, while the thermal expansion coefficient showed an opposite trend.

In-situ phase transformation and corrosion behavior of TiNi via LPBF

Gang Chen et al.

Summary: This study controls the composition of B2/B19' phases in NiTi components using LPBF, conducts electrochemical testing, and finds that the as-printed sample demonstrates better corrosion resistance, with a much stronger pitting corrosion resistance for the full B2 phase sample.

3D nanoporous Ni@NiO/metallic glass sandwich electrodes without corrosion cracks for flexible supercapacitor application

Xinhao Sun et al.

Summary: This research successfully fabricated sandwich uniform nanoporous Ni@NiO core@shell electrodes with enhanced flexibility and high electrochemical performance. Controlling the corrosion rates effectively eliminated corrosion cracks and significantly improved the flexibility of the electrodes. The assembled flexible all-solid-state supercapacitor (FAS) device showed great potential as a wearable energy storage device.
