Preparation and thermoelectric power properties of highly doped p-type Sb2Te3 thin films

A. M. Adam et al.

Summary: This study provides an easy method for growing p-type Bi-doped Sb2Te3 thin films on ceramic substrates using vacuum thermal evaporation technique. The thermoelectric properties of the films, including electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient, were investigated and showed different behaviors as a function of temperature. The power factor was calculated based on these values, with the maximum value obtained for the Sb1.85Bi0.15Te3 thin film sample.

Modulation of thermoelectric properties of thermally evaporated copper nitride thin films by optimizing the growth parameters

Z. Tanveer et al.

Summary: In this study, the thermoelectric properties of copper nitride thin films were successfully controlled by optimizing the post growth nitrogen gas flow time. Increasing the annealing time duration improved the crystallinity, Seebeck coefficient, and electrical conductivity of the films, resulting in a higher power factor. Analytical techniques such as XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and SEM were used to support the findings.

Synthesis, phase evolutions, microstructures, and compaction behavior of four copper-chalcogenide micron-thermoelectric powders (Cu2ZnSnS4/Se4, Cu2MnSiS4/Se4, Cu2MnSnS4/Se4, and Cu2ZnSiS4/Se4) prepared by mechanical alloying

Hany R. Ammar et al.

Summary: In this study, four novel copper-chalcogenide thermoelectric nanostructured materials were designed and synthesized through mechanical alloying. Various phases in the synthesized materials were identified using XRD, HRSEM, and HRTEM, with the formation of nanoscale solid solutions observed. QTEM4 (Cu2ZnSiS4/Se-4) exhibited the highest densification rate and relative density percentage. Linear Balshin's equation and non-linear Cooper and Eaton's equation showed good fitting curves for predicting the densification behavior of these materials.

Multifold enhancements in thermoelectric power factor in isovalent sulfur doped bismuth antimony telluride films

John Kennedy et al.

Summary: The thermoelectric power factor alpha 2 sigma in Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 films can be significantly increased by sulfur doping, leading to simultaneous increases in electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient. The increase in electron density induced by sulfur outweighs the decrease in charge carrier mobility caused by ion implantation. Therefore, incorporating controlled amounts of isovalent impurities can be attractive for enhancing the thermoelectric properties of pnictogen chalcogenides.

Simultaneous enhancement of Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity in ZnSnO by the engineering of grain boundaries using post annealing

Jolly Jacob et al.

Summary: The manuscript discusses the enhancement of Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity by controlling grain density and size, focusing on the impact of grain boundaries on carrier mobility. The deliberate engineering of grain boundaries in bulk Zinc Tin Oxide through post thermal annealing was found to significantly improve the material properties, as demonstrated through SEM images and supplementary measurements such as XRD and Raman spectroscopy.

Growth of ZnSnO nano structures for thermopower applications by thermal evaporation with and without oxygen precursor

S. Ikram et al.

Summary: In this study, the crystal quality control of ZnSnO nanostructures during thermal evaporation growth in the presence and absence of oxygen gas was investigated. The samples grown using oxygen precursor showed higher thermoelectric performance and porous structure compared to the samples grown without oxygen gas.

Role of phase separation in nanocomposite indium-tin-oxide films for transparent thermoelectric applications

Peter P. Murmu et al.

Summary: Oxygen vacancies have a significant impact on the phase separation and thermoelectric properties of ITO films, affecting factors such as electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, optical transmission, and power factor. Tuning the stoichiometry of ITO films by adjusting oxygen partial pressure during deposition can lead to phase separation and improved optical transparency, but may result in a decrease in power factor.
