Visible-Light-Driven Carbon-Doped TiO2-Based Nanocatalysts for Enhanced Activity toward Microbes and Removal of Dye

Seema Sarwar Ghumro et al.

Summary: In this study, visible light activated nanoflakes were synthesized using a hydrothermal route and their photocatalytic activity was evaluated. The results showed that carbon-doped nanoflakes significantly enhanced the photocatalytic activity compared to bare nanoflakes. Additionally, reduced graphene oxide-TNFs showed good recycling ability and promising potential for photocatalytic applications.

Fluoride-Doped TiO2 Photocatalyst with Enhanced Activity for Stable Pollutant Degradation

Aida M. Diez et al.

Summary: Fluoride-doped TiO2 (F-TiO2) synthesized by a one-step method was used for efficient UV-photo-degradation of methylene blue (MB) and bisphenol A (BPA) with reduced energy consumption. The catalyst showed better performance than commercial TiO2, and could be reused with improved efficiency by addition of H2O2.

Surface chemistry of TiO2-ZnO thin films doped with Ag. Its role on the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue

M. Perez-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic Ag-loaded (TiO2)(0.95)-(ZnO)(0.05) thin films were successfully synthesized using the sol-gel dip-coating method, with the incorporation and surface diffusion of Ag confirmed by secondary ion mass spectrometry measurements. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed the chemical composition and electronic structure of the samples, confirming the presence of TiO2 and ZnO. The best response in photocatalytic activity was observed in the (TiO2)(0.95)-(ZnO)(0.05) thin films doped with 2 mol% Ag.

Synthesis of N-Doped TiO2 for Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation of Atmospheric NOx

Tamal Tahsin Khan et al.

Summary: Titanium oxide (TiO2) is a potential photocatalyst for removing toxic NOx from the atmosphere, but its low absorption of visible light and high charge recombination limit its practical application. Nitrogen-doped TiO2 (TC) shows enhanced visible-light absorption and improved separation/transfer of photo-excited charge carriers, leading to excellent photocatalytic activities in NO oxidation under UV and visible light irradiation.

Carbon-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles for visible light driven photocatalytic activity

Charu Negi et al.

Summary: This work involves tuning the band gap of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles through carbon doping during sol-gel synthesis. By using polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (PDADMAC) as the carbon source, the band gap energy of TiO2 was reduced significantly. The interaction between carbon, titanium, and oxygen atoms was found to contribute to the reduction in band gap energy, resulting in structural modifications and enhanced photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 nanoparticles, as demonstrated in the detailed investigation of the photodegradation kinetics and thermodynamics of methylene blue.
