Synthesis, structural characterization and in vitro antibacterial activity studies of ternary metal complexes of anti-inflammatory bromhexine drug

Summary: Novel d-block metal complexes using bromhexine (BHX) and glycine (GLY) as primary and secondary ligands, respectively, were synthesized and characterized. The structures of the complexes were confirmed by various spectroscopic tools. The complexes exhibited effective antibacterial capabilities against pathogenic bacterial strains and showed potential as effective antibiotic drug molecules. Furthermore, the metal complexes showed greater anticancer activity than the parent BHX ligand, and molecular docking studies indicated their potential biological targets.

Ni(II), Co(II), Fe(III), and Zn(II) mixed ligand complexes of indoline-dione and naphthalene-dione: Synthesis, characterization, thermal, antimicrobial, and molecular modeling studies

Summary: New mixed ligand complexes with metal ions (Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), and Fe(III)) of the type [ML1L2] (where L1 = indoline-2,3-dione and L2 = naphthalene-1,2-dione) were synthesized and characterized. Spectroscopic, thermal, and SEM/XRD studies were conducted to analyze the complexes. Theoretical investigation and docking simulations were performed to better understand the molecular mechanisms and affinity of the complexes. The complexes showed antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi.
