Fe-MOF with U-Shaped Channels for C2H2/CO2 and C2H2/C2H4 Separation

Yue Li et al.

Summary: The development of high-performance adsorbents is crucial for the low-energy separation of acetylene. In this study, a Fe-MOF with U-shaped channels was synthesized. The adsorption isotherms and breakthrough experiments showed that Fe-MOF has a high acetylene uptake and can effectively separate C2H2/CO2 and C2H2/C2H4 mixtures at normal temperatures. The simulation results also demonstrated the strong interaction between Fe-MOF with U-shaped channels and acetylene.

Tetranuclear CuII Cluster as the Ten Node Building Unit for the Construction of a Metal-Organic Framework for Efficient C2H2/CO2 Separation

Fahui Xiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel MOF (FJU-112) with a tetranuclear copper cluster node and a deprotonated organic ligand as the cap was synthesized. The pore spaces in FJU-112 were divided into smaller cages and windows using BPE as a pore partitioner, enabling efficient gas adsorption and separation. FJU-112 exhibited high separation performance for C2H2/CO2 separation due to the strong pi-complexation interactions between C2H2 molecules and framework pore surfaces.

Constructing C2H2 anchoring traps within MOF interpenetration nets as C2H2/CO2 and C2H2/C2H4 bifunctional separator

Chuanhai Jiang et al.

Summary: A new C2H2 adsorption trap (UPC-80) constructed by 4-fold interpenetration nets is reported, which shows high adsorption selectivities of 6.34 and 4.78 for C2H2/CO2 and C2H2/C2H4, respectively. Laboratory-scale fixed-bed breakthrough experiments confirm the efficient separation ability of UPC-80 towards the C2H2/CO2 and C2H2/C2H4 gas mixtures, with negligible capacity loss. Theoretical simulations attribute the good separation performance to the anchoring of C2H2 by two Tb2(COO)6 clusters in adjacent interpenetration nets and the strong electrostatic interaction.

One-Step C2H4 Purification from Ternary C2H6/C2H4/C2H2 Mixtures by a Robust Metal-Organic Framework with Customized Pore Environment

Gang-Ding Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports a robust metal-organic framework (MOF) with methyl-decorated nonpolar pores that achieves one-step purification of C2H4 from binary and ternary C2H6/C2H4/C2H2 mixtures. The MOF exhibits high C2H6 and C2H2 uptakes and surpasses all previously reported MOFs in terms of C2H6/C2H4 selectivity for C2H4 purification. The presence of methyl groups in the pores enhances the adsorption capacity for C2H2 and C2H6 compared to C2H4.
