A two-channel phosphorescent nanosensor for fluoride with excellent selectivity and sensitivity has been designed and synthesized. By using the specific chemical affinity between silicon and fluoride, the nano-sensor has been used for ratiometric and time-resolved luminescence detection of F- in aqueous media and live cells.
