Two-dimensional gold decorated indium selenide for near-infrared and mid-infrared ultrafast photonics

Summary: In this study, a novel interfacial engineering method is proposed to modify indium selenide (InSe) nanosheets using gold (Au) particles. The resulting InSe-Au saturable absorber (SA) based on microfiber exhibits excellent nonlinear absorption properties and enables ultrashort pulse outputs from 1.5-μm and 2-μm mode-locked fiber lasers. It is the shortest mode-locking pulse (507 fs) achieved from a 1.5-μm fiber laser to date and the first demonstration of a 2-μm mode-locked fiber laser using the InSe SA, suggesting the potential of the InSe-Au heterostructure as a nonlinear optical material for ultrafast photonics in the near- and mid-infrared regions.

Dynamic behaviors of multiple-soliton pulsation in an L-band passively mode-locked fiber laser with anomalous dispersion

Summary: This study demonstrates the observation of multiple-soliton pulsations in an L-band mode-locked fiber laser for the first time, with spectrum oscillation and pulse width breathing. The number of pulsating solitons linearly increases from 8 to 16 with the pump power, providing a better understanding of the complex mechanism of soliton pulsations.
