Transient mixed-lubrication analysis of low-viscosity lubricated bearings under impact load with consideration of turbulence

Fangrui Lv et al.

Summary: This study proposes a transient mixed-lubrication model considering turbulence to investigate the dynamic characteristics of mixed-lubricated bearings. The effects of turbulence, surface roughness, and impact load direction on transient lubrication are analyzed based on a derived transient Reynolds equation and the journal's dynamic equation.

Three-dimensional computational fluid dynamic analysis of high-speed water-lubricated hydrodynamic journal bearing with groove texture considering turbulence

Huihui Feng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of groove texture on high-speed, water-lubricated hydrodynamic journal bearings through three-dimensional computational fluid dynamic analyses. It is found that groove texture can significantly improve load capacity, especially at smaller eccentricity ratios and higher rotary speeds. The load capacity is influenced by groove depth, width, and length, while friction force is slightly impacted by groove texture.

Numerical study on the dynamic characteristics of water-lubricated rubber bearing under asperity contact

Guo Xiang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the dynamic characteristics of water-lubricated rubber bearings considering asperity contact, including water-film stiffness and damping coefficients and plastic-elastic contact stiffness coefficient. The findings show that stiffness and damping coefficients of water film and the contact stiffness of asperity increase with decreasing radial clearance, while dynamic coefficients are less sensitive to rubber thickness compared with rubber's elastic modulus. Additionally, a sudden change in water film direct stiffness and damping coefficients is observed due to the presence of grooves when the eccentricity ratio ranges from 0.6 to 1.0.
