Determination of protein and fatty acid composition of shell-intact upland cottonseed using near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy

Tao Zhuang et al.

Summary: By combining phenotypic data of seed kernel protein, oil, and fatty acid content with preprocessed near-infrared spectra, calibration models for cottonseed nutrient evaluation were established for 179 upland cotton genotypes. Results showed that 16 models had good prediction ability for seed protein, oil, and 14 fatty acids.

Antioxidant properties of the extracts of vine tea (Ampelopsis grossedentata) with the different color characteristics and inhibition of rapeseed and sunflower oil oxidation

Caihua Jia et al.

Summary: This study investigated the antioxidant properties of vine tea extracts and their inhibitory effect on lipid oxidation, finding that the extracts effectively scavenged radicals and inhibited lipid oxidation, especially those from young leaf samples. Compared to BHT, vine tea extracts significantly inhibited the increase of POV and TBARS in sunflower and rapeseed oils, suggesting their potential as natural antioxidants for extending the shelf life of food products.

Infrared spectroscopy combined with random forest to determine tylosin residues in powdered milk

Alexandre Gomes Marques de Freitas et al.

Summary: A method using FTIR was developed to detect tylosin residues in powdered milk, with chemometric analysis and the Boruta algorithm used to predict concentrations. The random forest method showed high accuracy in predicting low concentrations, with the model generated having a high correlation and determination coefficient for tylosin residues in milk. The proposed methodology proved to be efficient for investigating antibiotic residues in powdered milk.

Data handling in data fusion: Methodologies and applications

Silvana M. Azcarate et al.

Summary: The use of data fusion methodologies has increased as the modern analytical laboratories' capability to measure samples from multiple sources has improved. Understanding the data structure obtained from a particular instrument is essential for the success of data fusion methods, which is sometimes overlooked in the literature. This manuscript focuses on explaining data fusion based on the structure of data obtained from different analytical platforms, with special attention to the nature of the data and the relationships between samples and variables, as well as within variables.
