Imparting the mosquito-repellent and fragrance properties to linen fabric using different natural plants oils without or via silica encapsulation technique

Amina L. Mohamed et al.

Summary: The study aimed to produce cellulose fabric with mosquito repellent properties and/or fragrance finish using essential oils from natural plants. The oils were encapsulated in silica mesoporous microcapsules using the solvent evaporation method. Different solutions were used to treat the fabric, including natural pectin polymer with each kind of oil, natural pectin polymer with encapsulated oil in silica mesoporous, natural chitosan polymer with each kind of oil, and natural chitosan polymer with encapsulated oil in silica mesoporous. The treated fabric was analyzed using various techniques.

Coloring of Woolen Fabrics with Natural Resources and Investigating the Color Perceptions of Children on These Fabrics

Nihan Celik Yilmaz et al.

Summary: This study investigates the color selection changes of children through videos made with fabrics colored with plant sources. The results show that Salvia Officinalis and Thymus Serpyllum can be used as natural dyestuffs for woolen fabrics. Additionally, tests on color fastness, antibacterial effects, and perception changes were conducted. The study finds that the videos had an impact on the children's perceptions and led to changes in their color choices.

Controllable Release of Povidone-Iodine from Networked Pectin@Carboxymethyl Pullulan Hydrogel

Hossam E. Emam et al.

Summary: In this study, a biodegradable pectin@carboxymethyl pullulan (Pe@CMP) hydrogel was successfully prepared for controlled release of povidone-iodine (PI). Adjusting the ratio of pectin in the hydrogel allowed for tuning of rheological properties and efficient release of PI. The released PI exhibited high biological activity, and the release process followed first-order kinetics and Higuchi models, with swelling of the hydrogel playing a key role in the release mechanism.
