Mesoporous Multiproton Ionic Liquid Hybrid Adsorbents for Facilitating NH3 Separation

Yue Li et al.

Summary: In this study, multiproton ILs (MPILs) were designed to enhance NH3 uptake. A series of porous MPIL-based hybrid adsorbents were prepared for NH3 adsorption by dispersing MPILs onto molecular sieve HZSM-5. The highest NH3 adsorption capacity and selectivities were achieved by [EdteH6][TfO]2@HZSM-5-60, which provides a feasible way to design novel porous IL-based adsorbents for gas separation and recovery.

Novel theoretical insight on CO2 electroreduction mechanism induced by aromatic ester-functionalized ionic liquids: A bulk-phase reaction pathway

Guilin Li et al.

Summary: Mechanism of CO2 to oxalate using aromatic ester-functionalized IL was studied. A new reaction pathway named bulk-phase pathway was proposed, in which the contribution of electrolyte to CO2 reactions is more important than the electrode surface. Experimental results supported this new insight.

Sn-Ag Synergistic Effect Enhances High-Rate Electrocatalytic CO2-to-Formate Conversion on Porous Poly(Ionic Liquid) Support

Xiu-Qiang Duan et al.

Summary: In this study, porous poly(ionic liquid) (PPIL)-based tin-silver (Sn-Ag) bimetallic hybrids (PPILm-SnxAg10-x) were prepared for high-performance formate electrolytic generation. The obtained formate Faradaic efficiency was 95.5% with a high partial current density of 214.9 mA cm(-2) at -1.03 V (vs reversible hydrogen electrode). The presence of Ag-species is vital for the formation and maintenance of active sites for CO2-to-formate conversion, while the introduction of Ag-species enhances the activity by increasing the electron density near the Fermi energy level.

Study on Greenhouse Gas Emission Characteristics of Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Flue Gas

Hai Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, the flue gas emissions of CO2, N2O, and CH4 from three typical FCC units were investigated. It was found that CO2 is the dominant greenhouse gas emitted, accounting for over 99% of total emissions. Moreover, the coke content and composition on the spent catalysts were found to directly affect GHG emissions.

Tuning Ionic Screening To Accelerate Electrochemical CO2 Reduction in Ionic Liquid Electrolytes

Beichen Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of ionic correlations on CO2 electrochemical reduction. The findings show that increasing ion concentration leads to an acceleration of CO2 reduction rates and an enhancement of the efficiency to produce CO. Importantly, the acceleration of CO2 reduction is due to the amplification of potential-dependent driving forces. This phenomenon is observed across different types of ions.

CO2 and CH4 Sorption by Solid-State Ammonium and Imidazolium Ionic Liquids

Lanyun Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that two imidazolium ionic liquids with very long alkyl chains perform better in CO2 capture but inferior in CH4 capture. These two ionic liquids also have higher CO2/CH4 selectivities. Molecular dynamics simulations showed that the aggregation of cations affects the accommodation space of CO2 and CH4 in the ionic liquids.

Boosting CO2 Electroreduction over a Cadmium Single-Atom Catalyst by Tuning of the Axial Coordination Structure

Yahui Wu et al.

Summary: Guided by first-principles calculations, it was discovered that Cd single-atom catalysts have excellent performance in activating CO2, and the introduction of axial coordination structure can further decrease the free energy barrier of CO2 reduction while suppressing the hydrogen evolution reaction. The designed and synthesized novel Cd SAC showed outstanding performance in CO2 electroreduction to CO, achieving a high faradaic efficiency and turnover frequency. This work serves as a successful example of designing highly efficient catalysts guided by theoretical calculations.
