Effects of grinding time on morphology and collectorless flotation of coal particles

O. Guven et al.

Summary: The impact of particle shape and surface properties on mineral systems has been overlooked in previous literature. This study investigated the effects of morphological variations on flotation kinetics using coal particles. The results showed that increased milling time resulted in increased roundness and roughness of the particles, leading to higher flotation rates. The findings were further supported by theoretical calculations of energy barriers.

Heat Transfer around and through Multiple Porous Particles

Hui Jin et al.

Summary: In this paper, numerical simulations were used to investigate the temperature field and particle-average Nusselt number variations of nine porous particles using the lattice Boltzmann method. The results showed that the inter-particle distance has a significant impact on the heat transfer efficiency, and the distance change in the direction vertical to the inflow also affects the temperature field and Nusselt number.

A zero-dimensional model of porous char gasification in supercritical water: Experiments and mathematical modeling

Chao Fan et al.

Summary: This study developed a zero-dimensional model of porous char gasification in supercritical water, which can be used for reactor-scale modeling and simulation. The evolution of specific surface area of char was obtained through experiments, and a kinetic model with detailed conversion pathways and consideration of specific surface area evolution was proposed. The model was evaluated by fitting experimental results and calculating intrinsic kinetic parameters. The developed sub-model showed reasonable prediction of gasification process and good description of particle characteristics.

Correlation of Critical State Strength Properties with Particle Shape and Surface Fractal Dimension of Clinker Ash

Yang Wu et al.

Summary: The study suggests that clinker ash particles have smaller aspect ratio, sphericity, and roundness compared to sands with other mineralogical components. Under similar test conditions, clinker ash exhibits higher shear resistance than natural sands at the critical state. Critical state friction angles tend to decrease with increasing aspect ratio, sphericity, roundness, and convexity.
