Thermodynamic Insights into MgBr2-Mediated Glucose Interconversion to Fructose Undertaking Multiple Reaction Pathways by Applying the Macro- and Micro-Kinetic Principles

Bhawana Devi et al.

Summary: This study reports the temperature-dependent characteristics of cation- and anion-mediated glucose conversion to fructose. The counter ions of MgBr2 enabled the reaction via different pathways, with Mg2+ undertaking the 1,2-hydride shift mechanism and Br- promoting the conversion via the proton transfer mechanism.

Joyce S. B. Figueiredo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the influence of MoO3 content and reaction time on the biodiesel yield from soybean oil and methanol. The results showed that the catalyst 10%MoO3/Al-SBA-15 achieved an average biodiesel yield of 96% under the reaction conditions of 20:1 methanol/soybean oil molar ratio, 3 wt% catalyst loading, at 150 degrees C for 3 hours.

Enhanced production of L-sorbose by systematic engineering of dehydrogenases in Gluconobacter oxydans

Li Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, key D-sorbitol dehydrogenases in Gluconobacter oxydans WSH-003 were identified through gene knockout. By knocking out dehydrogenase genes, the production of L-sorbose was significantly enhanced. G. oxydans-30 showed reduced by-product formation, while G. oxydans MD-16 achieved the highest conversion ratio. The systematic engineering of dehydrogenases greatly improved L-sorbose production.

Insights into the kinetics and mechanism of spermine (base)-catalyzed D-fructose interconversion to low-calorie D-allulose

Sandeep Kumar et al.

Summary: This study reveals the chemical kinetics and mechanism of fructose transformation into allulose. Fructose has a higher affinity to form side products rather than react with allulose. Under basic conditions, fructose readily transforms into side products, resulting in reduced allulose formation. The proposed reaction mechanism provides insights for designing an efficient catalytic system to produce allulose.

Realizing direct conversion of glucose to furfurals with tunable selectivity utilizing a carbon dot catalyst with dual acids controlled by a biphasic medium

Raina Sharma et al.

Summary: This study presents a cost-effective processing strategy for the production of fuel-precursor chemicals. By using a single glucose source and a fine-tuned Fe2+@SO3-CD nanocomposite catalyst, both 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and furfural can be significantly formed. The catalyst with two different acidic sites offers a synergistic effect on glucose decomposition. The use of a THF/H2O biphasic system enables selective formation of HMF and furfural. The recyclability study and green metrics analysis highlight the potential of this catalytic setup for furfurals production.
