IGF2BP3 Worsens Lung Cancer through Modifying Long Non-coding RNA CERS6-AS1/microRNA-1202 Axis

An Yan et al.

Summary: IGF2BP3 promotes the development of lung cancer cells by binding to the CERS6-AS1 promoter and down-regulating miR-1202, potentially leading to the upregulation of GDPD5. High expression of IGF2BP3, CERS6-AS1, and GDPD5, as well as low expression of miR-1202, were observed in lung cancer tissues. Inhibition of IGF2BP3, CERS6-AS1 or promotion of miR-1202 could suppress lung cancer progression.

Osteopontin promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression through inducing JAK2/STAT3/NOX1-mediated ROS production

Qipeng Wu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that osteopontin (OPN) promotes hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression by increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production through upregulating the expression of NADPH oxidase 1 (NOX1) and activating the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. Disruption of the OPN/NOX1 axis might be a promising therapeutic strategy for HCC.

Molecular dynamics simulations reveal the inhibitory mechanism of Withanolide A against α-glucosidase and α-amylase

Habeebat Adekilekun Oyewusi et al.

Summary: The study found that Withanolide A has the potential to inhibit the activity of alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, and it has good pharmacokinetic properties and bioavailability. Compared to the synthetic drug Acarbose, Withanolide A has better binding to the active sites of the enzymes and exhibits lower binding free energy.

miR-579-3p Controls Hepatocellular Carcinoma Formation by Regulating the Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase-Protein Kinase B Pathway in Chronically Inflamed Liver

Cristina Quintavalle et al.

Summary: Chronic liver inflammation can lead to liver damage, fibrosis, and possibly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Research has identified miR-579-3p as a novel tumor suppressor that plays a crucial role in regulating the PIK3CA-AKT signaling pathway in the early stages of HCC development.

Prognostic and predictive role of a metabolic rate-limiting enzyme signature in hepatocellular carcinoma

Zhangding Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to elucidate the comprehensive model of metabolic rate-limiting enzymes associated with the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. A classifier based on three rate-limiting enzymes (RRM1, UCK2 and G6PD) was found to serve as an independent prognostic factor. Combining clinical risk score with signature risk score significantly improved the prediction accuracy of individual outcomes, highlighting the prognostic value of rate-limiting enzymes in guiding clinical management and treatment decisions for HCC.
