Evaluation of the Influence of the Load Resistance on Power and Efficiency in the Square and Circular Periodic WPT Systems

Jacek Maciej Stankiewicz

Summary: With the increasing number of devices supporting wireless power transfer (WPT) technology, this study presents a method of analyzing a periodic WPT system using planar coils and field and circuit models. The finite element method (FEM) was used to solve a three-dimensional numerical model of a multi-segment charging system with periodic boundary conditions. The proposed equivalent circuit model achieved similar accuracy as the numerical model, providing a simplified analysis approach. The obtained results are helpful for designing WPT systems with maximum efficiency by selecting appropriate load resistance values.
