Intelligent Distributed Swarm Control for Large-Scale Multi-UAV Systems: A Hierarchical Learning Approach

Shawon Dey et al.

Summary: This paper studies the distributed swarm control problem for large-scale multi-agent systems. A novel mixed game theory is developed with a hierarchical learning algorithm to address the challenges posed by the large number of agents in LS-MAS. The use of cooperative game, Stackelberg game, and mean field game enables effective coupling between leaders and followers without increasing computational complexity or communication traffic. The developed hierarchical learning algorithm obtains the optimal distributed swarm control for multi-group leader-follower systems.

A Novel Mean-Field-Game-Type Optimal Control for Very Large-Scale Multiagent Systems

Zejian Zhou et al.

Summary: In this article, a decentralized adaptive optimal controller based on mean-field game (MFG) and self-organizing neural networks (NNs) is developed for multiagent systems (MASs) with a large population and uncertain dynamics. The design effectively addresses the curse of dimensionality and reduces computational complexity by integrating MFG theory with self-organizing NNs-based reinforcement learning techniques. The proposed actor-critic-mass (ACM) structure incorporates three NNs for each agent to learn the overall behavior, optimal cost function, and decentralized optimal control. A self-organizing NN is employed to reduce computational complexity, and numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.

Decentralized Adaptive Tracking Control For Large-Scale Multi-Agent Systems Under Unstructured Environment

Shawon Dey et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the decentralized optimal tracking control problem for large scale multiagent system (LS-MAS) under unstructured environment. A novel barrier function is designed to transform the unstructured environment into a structured environment. The actor-critic-mass reinforcement learning algorithm is developed to learn the optimal solution based on mean field game theory. The learned decentralized control can be implemented in real-time by transforming back to the unstructured environment through barrier function.

Robust Formation Control for Cooperative Underactuated Quadrotors via Reinforcement Learning

Wanbing Zhao et al.

Summary: This article addresses the model-free robust formation control problem for cooperative underactuated quadrotors with unknown nonlinear dynamics and disturbances. A robust controller is proposed based on hierarchical control scheme and reinforcement learning theory, which consists of a distributed observer, a position controller, and an attitude controller. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Decentralized Adaptive Optimal Tracking Control for Massive Autonomous Vehicle Systems With Heterogeneous Dynamics: A Stackelberg Game

Zejian Zhou et al.

Summary: This article discusses the decentralized optimal tracking control problem for a large-scale autonomous vehicle system with heterogeneous system dynamics. The study introduces the mean-field game theory and proposes a novel mean-field Stackelberg game method to address the challenges faced by traditional algorithms. A specialized A(2)C(2) M algorithm is designed to learn optimal policies, with numerical simulations conducted to demonstrate the method's effectiveness.
