Flexible Joint Planning of Sectionalizing Switches and Tie Lines Among Distribution Feeders

Chongyu Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an optimization model for the joint planning of sectionalizing switches and tie lines among distribution feeders. The model takes into account flexible installation, maintenance costs, and reliability requirements. A route analysis method is used to analyze different deployment schemes, and a mixed-integer linear programming model is formulated for the joint planning problem. Numerical results show that the proposed planning solution is more cost-effective and has lower outage energy compared to other methods.

A Reinforcement Learning Approach for Defending Against Multiscenario Load Redistribution Attacks

Jieyu Lei et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel approach to enhance the resilience of smart-grid power systems against load redistribution attacks. It introduces the concept of a chain of defense to dynamically and flexibly identify critical branches, and proposes a reinforcement learning framework to determine the most effective chain of defense. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that the proposed approach provides more comprehensive and effective mitigation against the damaging effects of attacks compared with conventional methods.

Optimal siting and sizing of distributed generation in radial distribution system using a novel student psychology-based optimization algorithm

Korra Balu et al.

Summary: A new metaheuristic optimization algorithm, SPBO, is proposed for optimal siting and sizing of distributed generation (DG) in radial distribution systems (RDS). The algorithm is efficient in reducing power loss, voltage deviation and improving voltage stability index, and outperforms other state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of computational time and convergence rate.

MILP-Based Fault Diagnosis Model in Active Power Distribution Networks

Chongyu Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an optimization model for fault diagnoses in active power distribution systems, aiming to simultaneously identify suspected fault line sections and potential false alarms sent by remote fault indicators. By analyzing expected and false alarms, minimizing the number of false alarms is chosen as the objective function to find the most credible fault hypothesis. A modified fault diagnosis model is established, leveraging monitoring data to construct equivalent RFI current and identify incompetent sensors.
