Modulation, Detection, and Performance for Noncoherent Massive SIMO Systems for Hypersonic Vehicle Downlink Integrated Channel

Summary: In this work, a hypersonic vehicle downlink integrated channel combining plasma sheath and fading channels is established, with a proposed noncoherent telemetry scheme and an adaptive ML receiver for efficient power utilization. An asymptotically optimal constellation design is proposed for symbol error rate improvement, robust against plasma sheath attenuation with moderate antennas or a large LOS component, based on estimated ARP PDF and RRJ-MCMC algorithm.
