Denoising and Detection of Bad Data in Distribution Phasor Measurements Using Filtering, Clustering, and Koopman Mode Analysis

Amir Gholami et al.

Summary: This paper introduces two methods for detecting anomalies in distribution-level phasor measurement units (D-PMU) data, suitable for offline and online applications. High-frequency noises are removed using a smoothing wavelet denoising method, and an ensemble approach based on the margin-based maximum likelihood estimator (MB-MLE) method is used to detect anomalies in denoised data. The processed data is used for model fitting and online denoising and bad data detection. The developed techniques have been validated on a simulated IEEE test system.

Distributed Kalman-Like Filtering and Bad Data Detection in the Large-Scale Power System

Jun Yang et al.

Summary: This article investigates the distributed state estimation problem for large-scale power systems with the appearance of bad data. The article proposes a distributed bad data detection strategy based on a novel iterative distributed Kalman-like filter (IDKF) to solve the difficulty of detecting bad data in edge measurement. Simulation tests conducted on the IEEE 118-bus power system verify the theoretical findings.

A Lightweight Sampling Time Error Correction Technique for Micro Phasor Measurement Units

Mohamed AbdelRaheem et al.

Summary: This article discusses methods for enhancing the accuracy of micro phasor measurement units (mu PMUs) sampling instants in distribution grids. The start of each second of all mu PMUs is synchronized by the puke per second (PPS) signal of the global positioning system (GPS). The internal clock of each mu PMUs then determines the sampling instants till the next PPS. Accumulation of error due to clock inaccuracy and drift leads to excessive phase error. A lightweight algorithm is proposed to correct the sampling period by fine-tuning the timer count. Experimental results show that the maximum phase error is lower than the accepted phase error by about two orders of magnitude.

A Packet Loss-Dependent Event-Triggered Cyber-Physical Cooperative Control Strategy for Islanded Microgrid

Bo Zhang et al.

Summary: This article proposes a cyber-physical cooperative control strategy for islanded microgrid, utilizing two event-triggered mechanisms to address voltage and frequency stability as well as communication burden issues. Various methods are designed to handle different scenarios of packet loss and a novel secondary controller is developed based on these mechanisms. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the contributed strategy.
