Design of standalone wireless impedance matching (SWIM) system for RF coils in MRI

Summary: In this study, a Standalone Wireless Impedance Matching (SWIM) system is proposed for RF coils to automatically compensate for impedance mismatch. SWIM utilizes a built-in RF generator to produce a calibration signal and measures reflected power to determine optimal impedance. SWIM can achieve automatic calibration and software detuning of RF coils.

Analysis and mitigation of noise in simultaneous transmission and reception in MRI

Summary: The coupled noise in simultaneous transmission and reception MRI from the transmit chain can degrade image quality, but can be mitigated by using a vector modulator and cancellation algorithm for transmit-receive isolation. Higher isolation can reduce the dominant noise source to acquisition noise. Transmit gain plays a critical role in achieving sufficient isolation, while amplifier noise figure does not contribute as much.
