LSDD-EEGNet: An efficient end-to-end framework for EEG-based depression detection

XinWang Song et al.

Summary: In this paper, an effective end-to-end framework called LSDD-EEGNet is proposed for EEG-based depression detection. LSDD-EEGNet combines convolution neural network (CNN) and long-short term memory (LSTM) as the feature extractor and applies a domain discriminator to eliminate the discrepancy between training and test datasets. The evaluation using EEG signals from 40 depressed patients and 40 healthy controls shows that LSDD-EEGNet achieves superior performance in subject-independent detection.

A study on decomposing EEGs during sleep into frequency components and revealing spindles using Kalman filter

Levent Ozbek

Summary: Sleep scoring in psychiatry is important for disease classification, investigation of sleep patterns, and treatment practices. Manual scoring by sleep specialists is difficult and time-consuming, leading to potential errors. Automatic spindle detection methods are not consensus due to variability in spindle characteristics. The use of Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter (AEKF) in separating EEG signals into trend and cycle components shows promising results for spindle detection.
