OFDM-Guided Deep Joint Source Channel Coding for Wireless Multipath Fading Channels

Mingyu Yang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates joint source channel coding (JSCC) for wireless image transmission over multipath fading channels. The proposed method combines an autoencoder with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and uses convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to map source images to complex-valued baseband samples for OFDM transmission. The system is trained end-to-end using differentiable layers that represent the multipath channel and OFDM. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves significant SNR gain compared to conventional schemes and further improves performance with the incorporation of channel state information (CSI).

Channel-Adaptive Wireless Image Transmission With OFDM

Haotian Wu et al.

Summary: This research proposes a learning-based channel-adaptive joint source and channel coding (CA-JSCC) scheme for wireless image transmission over multipath fading channels. The proposed method is able to adapt to channel-gain and noise-power variations by utilizing estimated channel state information (CSI). Experimental results demonstrate that CA-JSCC achieves state-of-the-art performance compared to existing JSCC schemes, and it is robust to varying channel conditions.

DeepWiVe: Deep-Learning-Aided Wireless Video Transmission

Tze-Yang Tung et al.

Summary: In this paper, we propose DeepWiVe, an end-to-end joint source-channel coding video transmission scheme that utilizes deep neural networks to directly map video signals to channel symbols. Our method improves video quality by predicting residuals without distortion feedback and optimizing bandwidth allocation among video frames. Experimental results show that DeepWiVe outperforms conventional schemes in terms of the multi-scale structural similarity index measure and can overcome the cliff-effect.
