Au(III) extraction using ketone compounds with physical properties superior to current commercial extractants

Tatsuya Oshima et al.

Summary: The study investigated the extraction of Au(III) using a series of aliphatic ketone compounds to find a novel extractant with advantageous properties compared to conventional ones. The ketone compounds showed desirable Au(III) extractability, with those bearing shorter aliphatic chains exhibiting higher extractability and exceeding industrial requirements. These compounds also had improved properties for metal processing compared to commercial extractants.

Extraction of Au(III) using aromatic ethers via ion solvation from acidic chloride media: Structural factors that influence extraction

Tatsuya Oshima et al.

Summary: This study investigated the extraction of Au(III) using various aromatic ether compounds, and found that compounds with 1,2-diether structures, especially o-DMB, showed higher extraction affinity towards Au(III) in high hydrochloric acid concentrations. The selectivity of o-DMB for Au(III) over Fe(III) and Ga(III) was also higher than that of commercial extractant DBC, with a recovery percentage of 95.7% after reduction with oxalic acid in a mixed metal system.

A Comparative Study on the Extraction of Au(III) Using Cyclopentyl Methyl Ether, Dibutyl Carbitol, and Methyl Isobutyl Ketone in Acidic Chloride Media

Tatsuya Oshima et al.

Summary: CPME was found to act as an extractant for Au(III) in acidic chloride media, with lower extractability compared to MIBK and DBC, but advantageous in the stripping and reductive recovery of extracted Au(III).
