Propagating uplift controls on high-elevation, low-relief landscape formation in the southeast Tibetan Plateau

X. P. Yuan et al.

Summary: This study suggests that the high-elevation, low-relief surfaces in the southeast Tibetan Plateau are a result of mountain growth and do not require a special process to form. The low-relief surfaces can persist for long periods of time due to lack of necessary drainage networks.

Organization Patterns of Complex River Networks in Chile: A Fractal Morphology

Francisco Martinez et al.

Summary: This study estimated the fractal dimension of Chilean river networks for the first time and analyzed their distribution at different scales. The results suggest that the fractal dimension can help describe the complex morphology of Chilean networks and its relationship with hydrological, climatic, and tectonic conditions.

Stream channel offsets along strike-slip faults: Interaction between fault slip and surface processes

Yifei Li et al.

Summary: Stream-channel offsets are commonly used to identify strike-slip faults and estimate fault slip rates, but surface processes can also impact channel morphology. This study found that fault slip and surface processes can compete to modify stream channels, with the morphology of fault offsets being better preserved under shorter fault slip recurrence intervals and weaker fault zones. The effects of major factors such as fault slip recurrence intervals and surface processes must be carefully considered when using stream-channel offsets to infer fault slip and estimate slip rates.

Contrasting exhumation histories and relief development within the Three Rivers Region (south-east Tibet)

Summary: The study compared and analyzed the thermochronometric ages of two massifs across the Mekong River, revealing that the Baima Xueshan massif experiences slower regional rock uplift and exhumation rates, while the Kawagebo massif shows stronger local rock uplift rates.
