Latest Cambrian stage of evolution of Precambrian continental crust in the Aktyuz high-pressure Complex (Chu-Kendyktas terrane; North Tien Shan): New evidence from the SW part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt

Anfisa V. Skoblenko (Pilitsyna) et al.

Summary: The metamorphic crustal formations of the Aktyuz block in the Central Asian Orogenic Belt include orthogneisses, gneissic granites, and paragneisses with schists. These rocks experienced high-pressure metamorphism and melting under eclogite facies conditions. The detrital zircons from the metasedimentary formations suggest the presence of Precambrian basement and later subduction processes in the Late Neoproterozoic and Early Palaeozoic.

Precambrian and Early Palaeozoic metamorphic complexes in the SW part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Ages, compositions, regional correlations and tectonic affinities

Anfisa V. Skoblenko et al.

Summary: The Precambrian metamagmatic complexes in the Zhingeldy and Kendyktas blocks of the Zheltau and ChuKendyktas terranes are composed of predominantly Neoproterozoic orthogneisses and subordinate metamorphic rocks. The presence of Precambrian metavolcanic rocks and metasedimentary complexes in the region further indicate the evolution and composition of the studied terranes. The findings also help with the correlation of metamorphic complexes in the SW part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt.

Structural Setting and Heterogeneous Deformation of the Mesoproterozoic Granite-Gneisses of North Tianshan with the Example of the Karadjilga Massif (Kyrgyzstan)

A. Kushnareva et al.

Summary: A detailed structural study of the Karadjilga granite-gneiss massif in the Kyrgyz North Tianshan has revealed that it represents a sheet intrusion, concordant to the bedding of the host metasedimentary strata. The massif has a complex internal structure and is deformed into a single syncline together with the host sedimentary strata.

Summary: The study identified supra-subduction complexes and early Paleozoic volcanic rocks in the North Balkhash area, revealing the evolution of the accretionary wedge. Additionally, comparisons with Kazakhstan and NW China showed similar durations, stages, and tectonic settings in the region.

Late Mesoproterozoic-early Neoproterozoic quartzite-schist sequences of the Aktau-Mointy terrane (Central Kazakhstan): Provenance, crustal evolution, and implications for paleotectonic reconstruction

Nadezhda A. Kanygina et al.

Summary: The metasedimentary complexes represented by quartzite-schist Kiik Group play a significant role in the structure of the Aktau-Mointy terrane, with accumulation occurring in the late Mesoproterozoic to early Neoproterozoic. U-Pb LA-ICP-MS dating of detrital zircons reveals age estimates predominantly falling within certain intervals, showing similarities with other terranes in the western CAOB.

Early Paleozoic High- and Ultrahigh-Pressure Complexes in the Western Part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Ages, Compositions, and Geodynamic Models of Formation

A. Skoblenko et al.

Summary: This study provides an overview of the structures, compositions, and metamorphic evolutions of high- and ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks in several large sialic massifs in the western part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. It discusses the challenges faced by researchers in constructing geodynamic models for these complexes.

Early Neoproterozoic (∼920 Ma) Granite-Gneiss of the Junggar Alataw, South Kazakhstan: Age Substantiation Based on the Results of U-Th-Pb (SIMS) Dating

D. V. Alexeiev et al.

Summary: The granite-gneiss of the Early Neoproterozoic age found in the Sarychabyn Complex in the Junggar Alataw Range constrains the age of metasedimentary rocks in the area, suggesting a Late Mesoproterozoic-Early Neoproterozoic age. The age coincides with lithologically similar complexes in Kazakhstan and China, indicating a widespread episode of granitoid magmatism around 920 Ma in the Aktau-Junggar microcontinent, distinguishing it from other Precambrian crustal blocks in the region.
