Interrater reliability and internal consistency of the eating disorder examination in the longitudinal assessment of bariatric surgery study

Summary: The study examined the interrater reliability and internal consistency of the Eating Disorder Examination (EDE) among bariatric surgery patients before and after surgery. Results showed high interrater reliability but variable internal consistency. Trained raters were able to reliably assess EDE constructs, but further psychometric testing and scale development may be needed for this population.

24-Month follow-up of randomized controlled trial of guided-self-help for loss-of-control eating after bariatric surgery

Summary: This study examines the longer-term effects of postoperative treatments for loss-of-control (LOC) eating after bariatric surgery. The results suggest that short-term guided-self-help treatments can significantly reduce the frequency of LOC eating and lead to modest weight loss. However, there is significant weight gain after treatment. The frequency of LOC eating remains stable over time and may require more intensive treatments.

Randomized Controlled Trial of Treatments for Loss-of-Control Eating Following Bariatric Surgery

Summary: This study analyzed the impact of two guided self-help treatments on postoperative loss-of-control (LOC) eating in bariatric surgery patients. The results showed that cognitive behavioral therapy (gshCBT) and behavioral weight loss (gshBWL) were equally effective in reducing LOC eating frequency and promoting weight loss. Additionally, race was found to be a factor associated with posttreatment outcomes.
