Evaluation of the Impact of Pregnancy-Associated Factors on the Quality of Wharton's Jelly-Derived Stem Cells Using SOX2 Gene Expression as a Marker

Paulina Gil-Kulik et al.

Summary: SOX2, a pluripotent transcription factor, plays a crucial role in stem cell homeostasis and development. Research indicates that maternal age, umbilical cord blood pH, and length of pregnancy can influence the quality of stem cells derived from Wharton's Jelly, highlighting the importance of assessing maternal and embryonic factors in cell quality.

Maternal Early-Life Risk Factors and Later Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: A Cross-Sectional Analysis of the UAE Healthy Future Study (UAEHFS)

Nirmin F. Juber et al.

Summary: Limited studies have focused on maternal early-life risk factors and the later development of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). This study aimed to estimate GDM prevalence and examine the associations between maternal birthweight and parental history of diabetes with later GDM. The findings suggest that low birthweight and parental history of diabetes are significantly associated with later GDM.
