This paper summarizes previous research findings and introduces new studies on ICRF plasma creation in both pure gases and gas mixtures. In all experiments, the two-strap antenna operated in monopole phasing with an applied RF power of around 100 kW. The research on plasma creation was conducted at RF frequencies close to the fundamental hydrogen cyclotron harmonic.
