A theoretical and modeling study about the low-temperature reaction mechanism between diethoxymethane radicals and O2

Shanshan Ruan et al.

Summary: In this study, the low-temperature oxidation mechanism of carbon-neutral fuel diethoxymethane (DEM) was investigated. The reaction potential energy surfaces (PESs) of three different DEM radicals reacting with O2 were explored. The rate constants of the relevant reactions were calculated and the main reaction channels were discussed. The data obtained were incorporated into the DEM combustion model, showing good agreement with experimental data and providing support for further study.

Emissions from homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine using different fuels: a review

Sanjeev Kumar Verma et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the emission characteristics of HCCI engines using different fuels and additives, as well as the impacts of various operating conditions on emissions. HCCI technology offers higher efficiency and cleaner combustion, reducing NOx and particulate matter emissions. The use of different fuels in HCCI engines can lead to varying emission outcomes.

Study of combustion and NO chemical reaction mechanism in ammonia blended with DME

Xiangyu Meng et al.

Summary: This study developed a detailed chemical reaction mechanism and investigated the combustion and emission mechanism for NH3/DME dual-fuel combustion. It was found that fuel NOx still dominates the total NOx production in NH3/DME combustion, and DME addition promotes the NO formation reaction.

Combustion and emission characteristics of diesel/n-butanol blends with split-injection and exhaust gas recirculation stratification

Sun Yi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of a split-injection strategy on combustion and emission characteristics using diesel/n-butanol blends. The results show that the split-injection strategy reduces NOx emissions and keeps smoke opacity low, but increases accumulation mode particles. Utilizing EGR stratification optimizes emission results, especially the suppression of accumulation mode particulate emissions.

Comparing the pyrolysis kinetics of dimethoxymethane and 1,2-dimethoxyethane: An experimental and kinetic modeling study

Wenyu Sun et al.

Summary: This work investigates the reaction kinetics of the thermal decomposition of DMM and 1,2-DME, with 1,2-DME showing higher reactivity compared to DMM. Different fuel-specific intermediates are observed in the pyrolysis process of each molecule.

Unraveling the low-temperature oxidation mechanism between methyl crotonate radicals and O2

Shanshan Ruan et al.

Summary: Quantum chemical methods were used to study the chemical reaction kinetics of methyl crotonate (MC, C5H8O2) radicals with O-2 at low temperatures, showing the crucial effect of conjugation on the reaction process. Initial adduct formation and intramolecular H-transfer reactions play key roles in low temperature oxidation, and the mechanism of O-2 addition to MC radicals was verified by a previous combustion model. The updated model successfully replicated previous experimental results.
