Deasphalting of heavy crude oil by hexamethyldisiloxane: The effect of a solvent/oil ratio on the structure, composition, and properties of precipitated asphaltenes

Sergey O. Ilyin et al.

Summary: The use of hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO) for deasphalting heavy crude oil results in higher compound precipitation efficiency compared to traditional aliphatic hydrocarbons like pentane or heptane. The resulting products include asphaltenes, polyaromatic compounds, resins, and paraffin waxes, with the product yield increasing with the HMDSO/crude oil ratio up to a maximum at 15/1 ratio. However, the yield decreases with further increase due to changes in compound composition. Despite variations in structure and composition, all resulting products exhibit viscoelastic liquid behavior above 60 degrees C, allowing for different processing methods.

Statistical review of studies on the estimation of thermophysical properties of nanofluids using artificial neural network (ANN)

Mohammad Hemmat Esfe et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the studies on estimating the thermophysical properties of nanofluids using artificial neural network (ANN) technique. The research method, target population, and article collection process were presented. The most frequent keywords and the categorization of articles based on publication year were identified. The study showed that the highest number of studies were conducted during 2019, 2020, and 2021. Commonly used nanoparticles and ANN algorithms were identified. The study also examined the contribution of different countries in terms of the number of studies and found that India, Iran, Vietnam, and China had the most published studies. The most frequent post-processing studies with ANN were related to viscosity, thermal conductivity, and heat transfer properties.

Study on Solvent Deasphalting Process for Upgrading of Hydrocracking Unconverted Oil

Shiyuan Sun et al.

Summary: The research found that temperature had a greater impact on the yield and quality balance during the SDA process of EBH unconverted oil. Decreasing the extraction temperature could significantly increase the yield of DAO without deteriorating its properties.

Performance of geopolymer as adsorbent on desulphurization of heavy gas oil

Biswajit Saha et al.

Summary: Geopolymer, a porous aluminosilicate material similar to zeolites, was studied for its suitability in adsorptive desulphurization (ADS) using a petroleum feedstock. Surface Na and Al elements were found to interact with sulphur compounds, leading to a high sulphur adsorption capacity of 38.4 mg/g. In addition, the adsorption process is spontaneous, exothermic, and follows pseudo-first-order kinetics.
