Cleaner production of biodiesel from novel non-edible seed oil (Carthamus lanatus L.) via highly reactive and recyclable green nano CoWO3@rGO composite in context of green energy adaptation

Mamoona Munir et al.

Summary: The study explores the potential of Carthamus lanatus L. seed oil as a non-edible waste feedstock for biodiesel production using a novel, green, and recyclable catalyst. The biodiesel produced meets international standards and exhibits excellent reusability. This research highlights the importance of sustainable and green technologies in addressing global energy and environmental challenges.

Effect of triacetin as an oxygenated additive in algae biodiesel fuelled CI engine combustion, performance, and exhaust emission analysis

Teku Kalyani et al.

Summary: In this experimental investigation, the combustion, performance, and exhaust emissions of a diesel engine running on an algae oil biodiesel-diesel blend (ABD40) with the oxygenated additive triacetin were examined. Results showed that adding 4% triacetin in ABD40 achieved higher combustion pressure and better fuel efficiency than diesel fuel. However, higher fuel consumption was recorded for biodiesel blends compared to diesel fuel. The addition of 4% triacetin also resulted in lower emissions of CO, NOx, UHC, and Smoke compared to diesel fuel.

Interesterification of triglycerides with methyl acetate for biodiesel production using a cyclodextrin-derived SnO@γ-Al2O3 composite as heterogeneous catalyst

Claudia Prestigiacomo et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricates SnO@gamma-Al2O3 composites with tuneable pore size and well-defined octahedral-shape crystal structure using a molecular-colloidal coassembly approach combined with an ultrasonic-assisted precipitation method. The cooperative action of the supramolecular template and gamma-Al2O3 nanoparticles plays a critical role in the growth and orientation of SnO microcrystals and ultimately determines their catalytic performance in ester exchange reactions.

Continuous production of fatty acid methyl esters from soybean oil deodorized distillate and methyl acetate at supercritical conditions

Liara Jalime Vernier et al.

Summary: This study investigates the continuous production of FAME from SODD and MA under supercritical conditions and analyzes the effects of temperature, MA:SODD mass ratio, and residence time on the yield. The results demonstrate that high FAME yield can be achieved under suitable conditions.

Interesterification of triglycerides with methyl acetate for the co-production biodiesel and triacetin using hydrotalcite as a heterogenous base catalyst

S. Manali Dhawan et al.

Summary: In this study, interesterification of soybean oil with methyl acetate was carried out using calcined hydrotalcite as a heterogeneous base catalyst to co-produce biodiesel and triacetin. The optimal reaction conditions were found to be an oil to methyl acetate mole ratio of 1:50, a temperature of 200°C, and a catalyst loading of 0.04 g/cm3.
