Free fatty acid optimization and modeling of biodiesel production from high viscous rubber seed oil- A comparative study of RSM and ANN

A. V. S. L. Sai Bharadwaj et al.

Summary: This study presents the optimization of free fatty acid (FFA) content in high viscous rubber seed oil through transesterification using a solid base catalyst. The FFA content was reduced through acid catalyzed esterification and the use of fluorite derived from the calcination of fluorspar. Response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN) models were used for FFA optimization, with the ANN model providing a better fit to the data with minimum error. The most significant process parameter influencing FFA optimization was found to be reaction time.

Machine learning methods for modelling the gasification and pyrolysis of biomass and waste

Simon Ascher et al.

Summary: The use of machine learning in modeling biomass and waste gasification/pyrolysis has grown rapidly over the past two decades. However, a systematic review of these approaches and findings is lacking. Artificial neural networks have been the most commonly used method due to their ability to learn highly non-linear relationships. Machine learning models offer advantages over existing models in incorporating non-numerical parameters and generating multiple solutions for various input parameters. There is a need to emphasize model interpretability.
