Sex differences in the effect of muscle fatigue on static postural control under different vision and task conditions

Donguk Jo et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of ankle plantar flexors fatigue on postural control between healthy young adult males and females. The results showed that males and females used different postural control strategies during ankle fatigue, and vision played a role in compensating for fatigue-induced instability.

Neuromuscular Control of Ankle-stabilizing Muscles-specific Effects of Sex and Menstrual Cycle

Iman Akef Khowailed et al.

Summary: This study found that women had significantly higher tibialis anterior-peroneus longus co-contraction ratio than men during balance tasks. Additionally, differences in neuromuscular control and mechanical properties of the ankle-stabilizing muscles were observed during different phases of the menstrual cycle in women.
