Smartphone-based on-site detection of hydrogen peroxide in milk by using a portable ratiometric fluorescent probe

Zhongyong Xu et al.

Summary: This study reports a novel supramolecular strategy that converts the typical on-off response to H2O2 into a ratiometric response, enabling on-site detection of H2O2 with a smartphone-based miniaturized testing system. The method shows acceptable sensitivity, good anti-interference ability, and desirable accuracy compared to standard methods, and can be used to detect H2O2 residue in commercial milk samples with portable testing apparatuses.

Effects of glass fiber reinforcing and thermal post-treatment on the mechanical properties and crystallization behaviors of polyoxymethylene

Ligang Zhang et al.

Summary: Polyoxymethylene (POM)-based composites reinforced with pristine short glass fiber (SGF) and surface modified SGF550 were prepared and investigated for their mechanical properties, microstructures, and crystallization behaviors. The interfacial bonding ability was found to be crucial for the mentioned properties. POM composites with SGF550 significantly improved the tensile strength and elongation at break compared to POM/SGF. Further, prompt water-cooling during processing enhanced the mechanical properties by inducing insufficient crystallization and forming amorphous regions that locked firmly with SGF550.

Redox responsive photonic crystals with broad wavelength shifts and their efficient detection of hydrogen peroxide and catalase

Lu Li et al.

Summary: Polymeric photonic crystals containing ferrocene were successfully prepared and used for efficient visual detection of hydrogen peroxide and catalase. The variations in the morphology of ferrocene before and after redox resulted in volume shrinkage of the sensors and a significant blue shift in reflection. The sensors exhibited excellent performance in detecting hydrogen peroxide and catalase.

Electrochemically renewable SERS sensor: A new platform for the detection of metabolites involved in peroxide production

Lei Jiang et al.

Summary: The study developed an electrochemistry-regenerated surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor for detecting H2O2-involved metabolites with high selectivity and sensitivity. By modifying newly synthesized 2-mercaptohydroquinone molecules on the surface of gold nanoparticles, the sensor demonstrated effectiveness in detecting glucose and uric acid, and maintained high SERS activity even after multiple regenerations. This SERS sensor offers a new platform for detecting H2O2-involved metabolites in biological fluids, potentially aiding in the early diagnosis of metabolism-related diseases.
