Medium chain triglyceride and medium-and long chain triglyceride: metabolism, production, health impacts and its applications - a review

Yee-Ying Lee et al.

Summary: Structured lipids are a modified form of lipid aimed at improving the nutritional and functional properties of conventional fats and oils. Examples of this new generation of healthful lipids, such as MCT and MLCT, are mainly composed of MCFA and have shown multiple physiological and functional properties.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of medium-chain triglycerides effects on acute satiety and food intake

Tyler Maher et al.

Summary: Research suggests that medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) may reduce energy intake more effectively than long-chain triglycerides (LCT), but the impact on subjective appetite ratings and hormone levels is less clear. Further studies are needed to understand the mechanisms by which MCT influence energy intake.

Evaluation of enzymatic interesterification in structured triacylglycerols preparation: a concise review and prospect

Zhen Zhang et al.

Summary: Enzymatic interesterification (EIE) is an emerging technology in the specialty fats industry, offering advantages including modified physical properties and nutritional qualities of fats and oils. Evaluation methods for EIE processes typically involve assessing changes in slip melting points, solid fat contents, TAG with equivalent carbon numbers, and sn-2 fatty acid compositions.

Lipase activation by molecular bioimprinting: The role of interactions between fatty acids and enzyme active site

Luma M. de S. Brandao et al.

Summary: Bioimprinting is an effective technique for improving the catalytic activity of enzymes, with lauric acid showing the highest imprinting preference in the active site of BCL. Molecular docking simulations confirmed the imprinting of all fatty acids in the active site, but with varying effects based on the carbon chain length. FTIR analysis revealed structural changes in bioimprinted BCL with lauric acid, leading to enhanced substrate accessibility and higher rigidity, resulting in increased activity and operational stability.

Immobilization and bioimprinting strategies to enhance the performance in organic medium of the metagenomic lipase LipC12

Daniel Alberto Sanchez et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that immobilizing LipC12 on suitable supports with bioimprinting technique can enhance its activity in esterification and hydrolysis reactions in organic medium. Hydrophobic supports are optimal for pentyl oleate synthesis, while hydrophilic supports are better for producing 1,2-diglycerides.
