MicroRNA miR-155 inhibits cyprinid herpesvirus 3 replication via regulating AMPK-MAVS-IFN axis

Chi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that miR-155 is significantly upregulated in common carp brain cells upon CyHV-3 infection and that overexpression of miR-155 can effectively inhibit CyHV-3 replication and promote the expression of type I interferon. The study also finds that miR-155 targets the 3' UTR of AMPK mRNA and that AMPK can interact with and degrade MAVS, resulting in reduced interferon expression.

Cromileptes altivelis microRNA Transcriptome Analysis upon Nervous Necrosis Virus (NNV) Infection and the Effect of cal-miR-155 on Cells Apoptosis and Virus Replication

Hehe Du et al.

Summary: By studying immune-related miRNAs in the spleen of C. altivelis in response to NNV infection, it was found that miR-155 may act as a pro-apoptotic factor in CAB cells in response to NNV stimulation, regulating cell apoptosis and virus replication.

Research progress on the regulation of nutrition and immunity by microRNAs in fish

Wei Zhou et al.

Summary: miRNAs are a class of highly conserved, small non-coding RNA molecules with a length of 18-25 nucleotides that negatively regulate target genes through complementary pairing with mRNA. Recent research has shown that miRNAs play important roles in regulating fish nutrition and immunity, including influencing fatty acid synthesis and involvement in antibacterial and antiviral immune responses.

Summary: Only 758 pri-miRNAs are confidently processed by DROSHA, while the majority may be non-canonical or false entries. Analyses of the DROSHA-dependent pri-miRNAs show key cis-elements for processing, and widespread alternative processing and unproductive cleavage events were observed.
