A novel C-type lectin for Litopenaeus vannamei involved in the innate immune response against Vibrio infection

Junliang Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel CTL of Litopenaeus vannamei, LvCTL7, was successfully cloned and shown to have microbial agglutination and immunoregulatory activity. LvCTL7 was mainly expressed in hepatopancreas, muscle, gill, and eyestalk, and it could bind to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. LvCTL7 was involved in the innate immune response against Vibrio infection in L. vannamei.

A novel C-type lectin LvCTL 4.2 has antibacterial activity but facilitates WSSV infection in shrimp (L. vannamei)

Yu-Hsun Huang et al.

Summary: LvCTL 4.2 is a C-type lectin that plays a crucial role in shrimp immunity. It is highly expressed in shrimp and has significant binding ability to WSSV virus and bacteria, with growth inhibition of bacteria.

Pattern recognition receptor signaling and innate immune responses to schistosome infection

Nouhoum Dibo et al.

Summary: Schistosomiasis is still a significant public health problem in tropical and subtropical regions, and its elimination remains challenging. Immune responses are crucial for controlling the disease, but prolonged inflammatory responses contribute to disease progression. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of innate immune responses is important for developing effective therapies and vaccines.

HMG20A from Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) involved in the immune response to bacterial infection

Zhiqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: The study showed that after being challenged by Streptococcus agalactiae, the expression of On-HMG20A in Nile tilapia tissues was upregulated in a time-dependent manner. Inhibiting the expression of On-HMG20A can reduce the inflammatory response and tissue damage caused by Streptococcus agalactiae in Nile tilapia, as well as decrease the bacterial load in tissues.

C-type lectin with a QPN motif from swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus displays broad nonself-recognition ability and functions as an opsonin

Ting Kang et al.

Summary: A new C-type lectin, PtCTL-9, was identified from swimming crab and showed broad non-self immunity, acting as an opsonin to promote phagocytosis and hemocyte encapsulation. The QPN motif was found to be important for PtCTL-9's immune function.
